Archer is a ranged support class in Hardcore Factions, active while wearing a full set of leather armour. Hitting an opponent with a bow Archer Tags them, making them receive more damage for a short period

Although the Archer has a passive effect of Resistance II, the leather armor still makes the Archer a very weak class in terms of tanking damage. But from a distance the Archer still knows to sway a fight, as a Archer Tag on the right target (Like their bard) can be vital to the fight.

In short: stand behind your team, optimally elevated, try to bow at the other teams' classes.

Activation

All four pieces must be leather. Losing a piece mid-fight drops the class immediately, taking your passive effects with it. Most servers apply a warmup after equipping before Archer Tags can be applied.

Energy & Effects

Just like the Bard, the Archer has Energy, they can use Sugar and Feathers to get Speed III and Jump Boost VII respectively (Some servers have Iron for Resistance III). But the big difference besides only having these two (or three). Is that the Archer only grants the effect to itself, and not to any teammates or opponents.

Archer Tags

An Archer Tag is applied when you fully draw back your bow, and then hit an opponent with that shot. The duration and damage multiplication vary per server, but is typically around 10-15s and 10-15%.

When in Archer, you're also immune to other Archers' Archer Tags.

Role in a fight

How to play it

  • Stay behind the frontline. Your effective range is as far as your bow can shoot, so stay at a distance
  • Use terrain and elevation The Archer can use Jump Boost VII, so use that to get into positions that opponents can't easily reach.
  • Save energy for the escape Use Speed III or Jump Boost VII to escape if an opponent comes close.
  • Target other classes Hit other teams' Bards and Rogues. They already take a lot of damage, so archer tags will make them drop fast

Strengths and weaknesses

Strengths Weaknesses
Important for dealing Damage Low armor value
Can deal damage from a distance Needs a line of sight
Helpful for Kitsniping Useless in close quarters

Gear and preparation

Beyond the leather set, an Archer obviously carries a bow and arrows, enough Sugar and Feathers, the usual pearls and potions.
